Oregon Coast in Summer

Late July Break on the Central Coast
Yvonne's favorite beach walk on Moolack. Yaquina Head beyond. Dozens of "local" gray whales feed close to shore in summer. A little morning fog below us on Cape Foulweather. Looking down on a fluke. Good perspective to watch whales feed. Yvonne heads up Beverly Beach.
At the Newport Bayfront. Few working boats docked as most are out on the Pacific. Yaquina Bay Bridge Harbour seal enjoy the absense of sea lions this month. Yvonne has Hecta Head to herself on a very still morning. Classic Hecta Head photo (one of the most photographed scenes on the west coast).
Yvonne enjoys the view, looking for sea lions. Cormorants and common murre. Spotting a whale from Cape Perpetua. Netarts Spit from near Cape Lookout, Cape Mears beyond. Unique beach walking at Oceanside, OR. Pigeon Guillemot
Three Arches Rocks on a hazy afternoon at Cape Mears. Mears light with Yvonne's reflection. Far north end of Beverly Beach. Bumps on the backs of gray whales are called knuckles. Flukes are not seen as often as you'd like. We eat salmon off this boat at Luna Sea Fishouse in Yachats, OR.
Another fluke... Forest fire smoke from BC makes for odd sunsets. Smokey layer plays tricks on the light.
